Foam Fire Cannons in Gas Tank Farms

  1. Foam Supply System
  • Inspect the foam storage tank to ensure that it has an adequate supply of foam concentrate. Check the condition of the foam concentrate, looking for any signs of contamination, such as discoloration or the presence of foreign particles. If the foam concentrate is contaminated, it may not produce effective foam for fire suppression.

  • Examine the foam - proportioning system. For systems with a foam - proportioning device, ensure that it is properly calibrated. The foam - proportioning device mixes the foam concentrate with water in the correct ratio to produce effective foam. Incorrect calibration could result in either too much or too little foam concentrate in the foam mixture, reducing its fire - fighting effectiveness.
  1. Water Supply (if applicable)
  • If the foam fire cannon uses water in combination with foam concentrate, check the water supply system. Ensure that the water pressure is within the recommended operating range for the cannon. Low water pressure can lead to a weak foam stream, while high water pressure may damage the cannon or the foam - proportioning system.
  • Check the water pipes for any leaks or blockages. Leaky pipes can waste water and reduce the amount of water available for foam production, while blockages can prevent water from reaching the cannon.
C. Electrical and Control System Checks (for Electric Cannons)
  1. Power Supply
  • For electric foam fire cannons, verify that the power supply is stable and within the specified voltage range. Check the electrical cables for any signs of damage, such as fraying or exposed wires. Damaged cables can pose a safety risk and may also disrupt the operation of the cannon.
  • Ensure that the circuit breakers and fuses related to the cannon's electrical system are in good working order. Tripped circuit breakers or blown fuses should be investigated and replaced if necessary before attempting to operate the cannon.
  1. Control Panel and Remote Control
  • Test the control panel of the electric foam fire cannon. Check that all the buttons, switches, and indicators on the control panel are functioning properly. For example, when the "rotate left" button is pressed on the control panel, the cannon should respond by rotating to the left.
  • If the cannon is equipped with a remote - control function, test the remote control. Ensure that the remote control can communicate with the cannon and that all the remote - control functions, such as controlling the cannon's movement and foam discharge, are working correctly.
